When my soon Thomas was 2, he loved to play in the bathtub. At bath time, he would make a big deal about how he could swim like a fish.
"Oh,Tom! Look at you! You are a big Northern!" or "Thomas is a Rainbow Trout." "Don't forget to brush your teeth, you huge Muskie!"
(We live in Wisconsin.)
One night, soon after the birth of my second son, Samuel, I decided to treat myself to a long relaxing bath. Thomas wandered into the bathroom and looked at me. So I flipped onto my stomach (which is what he would do when he was a "fish") and said "Tom! Look at me! I'm a fish just like you!"
Thomas got a huge grin on his face, clapped his hands and said "Oh Mom! Look at you! You're a huge whale!"
